The Philippines Mission

When we first brought CHOICES to Zamboanga Sibugay Province, we did not build a building. We did not hire a staff. We trained two people — Eric and Ethel — and put the framework in their hands. Today, they are training others. Those others are training more. The CHOICES curriculum has been fully translated into Tagalog, Cebuano, and Chavacano, with the Subanen tribal language currently in progress. That means the gospel is reaching people in their own heart language, taught by their own neighbors, in their own communities — without a single American in the room. That is the difference between a mission trip and a mission movement. The Philippine Department of Education has invited CHOICES into their Peace Education Symposium, recognizing the framework as a Christ-centered character development tool with real-world application in schools. We are not just reaching churches. We are reaching classrooms, tribal communities, and government institutions — and every one of them is being equipped to carry the message forward on their own. This is what sustainable missions looks like. We do not measure success by how many times we get on a plane. We measure it by what keeps growing after we leave. And right now, CHOICES is growing across the Philippines in ways we could not have orchestrated ourselves. Eric and Ethel are not waiting for us. They are running. Cuba is next. Switzerland is already in motion. The framework that started in a small Ohio church is now being translated, taught, and multiplied on three continents — and we are just getting started.
