The Model
Most mission efforts add workers. We multiply them. The traditional missions model sends trained professionals to do the work of evangelism. They're effective, but they're a bottleneck — one missionary reaches as many people as one missionary can reach.
HomeTown Ministries operates differently. We train the people already there — laypeople and everyday believers — to do what missionaries do. The math changes completely.
The CHOICES Framework
At the heart of our mission is a simple truth: three men hung on crosses that day. One rejected. One redeemed. One responded. Every person we encounter stands at their own cross, making their own choice.
One Rejected
Mocked even while dying. Surrounded by grace, he made it about himself.
Gestas — “moaner, complainer.”
Gestas never named Jesus as his Savior. The One offering forgiveness hung within arm's reach — and Gestas refused Him. He chose himself. His night never became a sunset. His night never ended.
“Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself — and us!” Luke 23:39
One Offered
The innocent One — poured out for the sin of all mankind, so every soul could be made new.
Jesus — “an offering for sin.” Isaiah 53:10
None of us could save ourselves. Every person was condemned — separated from God forever. Jesus became the offering for mankind.
Whether you look at Gestas, making this life all about himself, or Dismas, who finally made it all about Christ — it's Jesus' choice to forgive mankind that makes any choice possible at all. Before Him, there was no choice. Only death.
“Father, forgive them — they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34
One Responded
Named Jesus as the offering, asked only to be remembered — and heard: “Today you will be with Me in paradise.”
Dismas — “sunset.” The end of one day; the dawn of eternity.
Even dying, Dismas preached — rebuking Gestas and naming Jesus as innocent. Then he turned to Christ and asked only to be remembered.
In that moment his nightmare of this life became a sunset — the end of one day, the dawn of eternity. His night was over.
“Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Luke 23:42
The CHOICES framework trains ordinary Christians to recognize these moments and speak into them with confidence and compassion. No seminary required. No eloquence demanded. We equip willing believers with the tools to have real conversations about real hope — then send them out.
Our Vision
Not eight million spectators. Not eight million people who "support missions." Eight million believers who own their role in following Christ, living out biblical character, and helping make disciples.
Responsibility replaces passivity. Faith moves into action through daily choices. This is how the harvest gets brought in — not by a few professionals, but by an army of everyday ambassadors who finally understand that the Great Commission was written to them.
Why we're different
Most mission work creates ongoing reliance on outside support, funding, and personnel. The CHOICES framework gives local believers a method they own. Once trained, they train others — and those others train more. We are not building a ministry that needs us. We are building one that outlives us.
Many missions measure success in conversions. We measure it in ambassadors — people equipped to make more disciples. The conversion is the starting point, not the finish line. Forming responsible disciples means every new believer becomes a multiplier.
Some parachurch organizations operate parallel to local congregations. We embed inside them. Our training activates believers within their own church, under their own pastor, reaching their own community. We recognize and support the gifts of the five-fold ministry — Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, Teacher — and engage the body to make disciples.
This isn't "go share your faith and see what happens." Our approach is organized, measurable, and repeatable. We equip believers with a clear framework, specific accountability, and defined goals. In evangelism circles where things often stay vague and feelings-based, that makes all the difference.
